SCHOOLS CAMPAIGN

Within 16 days of activism against violence on women, TPO Foundation gives its contribution through variety of activities in order to raise awareness of citizens about violence consequences on individuals, families and society. Primary and secondary schools are partners in the campaign.
Patriarchal and post-war traumatized and impoverished society internalizes violence as normal human behavior and therefore it is difficult to eradicate it and convince citizens to work against it. Violence is not solution for anything and TPO Foundation invites everyone to stand against it effectively and help their community through peace activities, educational programs and fostering good. Within 16 Days of Activism Campaign TPO Foundation launches the call for competition, organizes exibitions and the school campaigns.

THE LIGHT OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE PICTURE

She is Nira, a heroine of the homonymous comic book, which was promoted within the 16 Days of Activism by the representatives of TPO Foundation in Sanski Most, Sarajevo, Livno and Bosansko Grahovo.
She is light – Nira. She does not allow injustice and lawlessness. She does not observe them passively, but by her personal examples rather indicates that we must speak and act on sexual harassment and other violations of human rights as they would not occurred. She is courageous and persistent in her objectives and not silent – she is Nira, a heroine of homonymous comic book, which was promoted within the 16 Days of Activism by the representatives of Transcultural Psychosocial Educational Foundation (TPO Foundation) in Sanski Most, Sarajevo, Livno and Bosansko Grahovo. The message and appeal of this year's campaign is STOP THE VIOLENCE.
The text authors are Elma Softic-Kaunitz and Pavle Kaunitz, and comic authors are Filip Andronik and Esmir Prlja. In a very creative way, they put their heroine in various situations, mainly unconformable, in which she responds and acts, while the society does not give her any sanctions. >> PDF

TPO FOUNDATION AND NIRA VISITING BOSANSKO GRAHOVO

Within the ICDE project and campaign "16 Days of Activism" in December 12, 2014, TPO Foundation in cooperation with the Association "Žene Grahova" visited the Primary School: "Bosansko Grahovo" and organized a presentation and distribution of comics Nira. Students, teachers and parents were introduced to comics Nira by the text author Elma Softić- Kaunitz and project coordinator Melika Šahinović.

PROMOTION OF COMIC BOOK NIRA IN LIVNO

In cooperation with the Association "Li-Woman" from Livno, TPO Foundation, as part of the campain 16 Days of Activism and ICDE project visited Primary School: "Fra Lovro Karaula" in Livno on 11.12.2014. Students of 9th class had a chance to listen to the text author Elma Softić- Kaunitz who presented heroine Nira who teaches us how we should all be responsible and active in our environment. Students had an opportunity to learn about the campain of the 16 Days of Activism and the rights of children which must be protected and promoted. All students received their copy of comics Nira.

THE PROMOTION OF THE COMIC BOOK NIRA - JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER, SARAJEVO

On the International Human Rights Day, on December 10, 2014, as part of the project „Initiative for Creative Dialogue and Education“, and on the occasion of 16 Days of Activism, the promotion of the comic book NIRA was held in the Jewish Community Centre in Sarajevo. BOGEY FEMINTEACHING COMIC BOOK EXHIBITION – FRENCH CULTURAL CENTRE, SARAJEVO

Within 16 days of activism against violence on women, the Bogey Femiteaching Comic book exhibition was organized on the International Day of Human Rights in a French Cultural Centre on December 10, 2014. A project assistant of TPO Foundation, Ivana Krstanovic, the author of the comic books, Jakov Causevic, and one of the members of the group Brkate opened the Exhibition. ROUND TABLE TITLED: POTENTIAL RELIGIOUS TEACHING EDUCATION FOR ACTIVISM AND NON-VIOLENCE IN SANSKI MOST

TPO Foundation, after the round tables held in Tuzla and Sarajevo on the topic "The potential of religious teaching education for activism and non-violence", organized the same table in Sanski Most, in December 12, 2014 in cooperation with the Centre for Peace Building CIM, Sanski Most. The lecturers were Director of CIM Vahidin Omanović and Dr. Zilka Spahić- Šiljak who spoke about the types of violence and prevention of family violence. Religious teachers shared their experiences through which they were able to see the different signs of abuse in children by the family. The lecturers talked about the ways to recognize signs of violence and developing relationships with students who are victims of violence. Director of CIM stressed that the civil and legal duty is to report any form of violence and that religious teachers are in particular advantage in facilitating the realization of contact with children who suffer from abuse in the home, and that their role is thus higher in accordance of violence prevention and help children.

PREMIERE PROMOTION OF COMIC BOOK NIRA IN SANSKI MOST

In cooperation with the Centre "Fenix" Sanski Most in December 8th, 2014 TPO Foundation in the framework of the project "Initiative for creative dialogue and education IKDE" and within the international campaign "16 Days of Activism" organized premiere promotion of comic book for young people called Nira in Sanski Most. The promotion was moderated by project coordinator Melika Šahinović who spoke about the worldwide campaign to combat violence and protect human rights. The director of Center "Fenix" Adisa Hotić thanked for cooperation and welcomed the students in the Center, while text author of comics Elma Softić- Kaunitz presented the idea of the comic book and characteristics of heroine Nira. Students together with the organizers had the opportunity to speak on the topic of activism in community and the activities against various forms of violence. The event included the allocation of comic books to all present students.

WORKSHOP FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: "DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: MYTHS AND FACTS"

Within 16 days of activism against violence on women, TPO Foundation organized an interactive workshop for young people "Domestic Violence: Myths and Facts." The workshop was held on the 5th December 2014. at the premises of TPO Foundation. Through this workshop the participants had the opportunity to learn about different forms of violence against women (with a particular focus on young women and girls) as well as different contexts in which violence occurs in the family. During the workshop, the participants also discussed about gender-based discrimination in general as well as on negative consequences of a patriarchal values. In addition to that, the participants also had the opportunity through the audio-visual materials not only to learn about different concepts of gender-based violence but also to reflect on new strategies and interactive concepts in order to encourage young people to take action not only against domestic violence, but violence in general, which is increasingly present in our society.

Public Debate (In)visible Violence on Women – University of Tuzla

TPO Foundation and the Volunteer center of the University of Tuzla organized the public debate that took place in the premises of the University on November 05, 2014 as part of the 16 days of activism program

THE PREMIERE EXHIBITION OF COMICS SPECTER FEMINAUK THE FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY IN ZENICA

Within 16 days of activism against violence on women the Bogey Femiteaching Comic book exhibition was organized at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tuzla on December 05, 2014., organized by TPO Foundation Sarajevo and the Volunteer Center of the University of Tuzla.
Vise rector, Rejhana Dervišević, TPO program director Dr. Zilka Spahić Šiljak, and authors of one part of the Comic books, Elmaja Bavčić and Ena Bavčić opened the Exhibition. The promoters pointed out the importance of proper communication of the gender stereotype problems through the lenses of feminist critique with the aim to draw attention to our daily life in which stereotypes are not even noticed, because of their deep embedment in our wait of thinking and worldview and practice. The Comic book provoked reactions and women recognized situations they personally experienced, while men showed resistance to problematize stereotypes. This implies lack of understanding and unwillingness to accept the problem. Furthermore, this is evidence that we have to speak more about gender stereotypes and work on raising awareness.

THE PREMIERE EXHIBITION OF COMICS SPECTER FEMINAUK THE FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY IN ZENICA

Promotion and exhibition of comics called Bauk FemiNauk were presented on 4.12.2104, at the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of cultural studies in Zenica. This is a continuation of activities under the campaign "Stop the violence" in the framework of the international campaign 16 Days of Activism and ICDE project.

PANEL DISCUSSION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE CALLED "IGNORE DIFFERENCES"

After the street performance "Presijeci" on November 11, 2014, TPO Foundation in cooperation with the Youth Council of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo organized a panel discussion for youth named "Ignore Differences". The aim of this panel discussion, covering the themes of crimes committed out of hatred, was the suppression of incidents that occurred due to prejudices as well as active response to any hate speech that is public. Lecturers at the panel discussion were members of the Youth Council of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo: Mirela Geko, Mirela Alić and Bojana Tomašević, who stated that the aim and intention of this panel discussion was to influence the minds of the young people to create a sense of responsibility, but also that they actively participate in the prevention of incidents motivated by prejudices.

STREET PERFORMANCE "CUT" - 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE

On the 29th November 2014 TPO Foundation organized a street performance "Cut" in front of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Sarajevo, in cooperation with actresses of the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo.
The goal of the performance is to present process of the formation violence through the emotional state of the victims and convey a message to passersby and the media about the forms of violence through body language, and another to say that violence must end. Performance was communicated about the problem of violence against women in all societies (in 97% of cases of reported violence victims are women).
